Takahashi has released a series of 1.5X extenders for the Epsilon series of telescopes. Models for the Epsilon-130D and Epsilon-180ED are available for immediate purchase with delivery of the initial units expected in May. The model for the Epsilon-160ED will be available in mid July 2022.
The extenders provide a 1.5 times increase in focal length and are comprised of 7 optical elements in 5 groups. This design provides ultra-high performance that corrects coma aberration on each the model of Epsilon telescopes. Even at the extended focal length, the star image is equal to or better than that obtained at the native focal length of the telescope.
In all models, the extender provides an RMS spot size of 2 microns or less at the center of the field, and 8 microns or less at the diameter of a full frame sensor (44 mm). Spot diagrams for the three models are attached to this announcement.
Below are other technical details of the new extender for the Epsilon-130D and Epsilon-180ED models. Details for the Epsilon-160ED will be announced separately.
